    I agree with you, Lorri, that Planned Giving tends to be the weakest arrow in a development professional's quiver, and therefore one that is often neglected. In part this is because those of us who are not lawyers are intimidated by all of the legalities, but I think the more common reason is that no one wants to remind a prospect that they aren't going to be here forever. For that matter, no one wants to think in those terms about themselves...hence the taboo. So keep on educating all of us, so that, like all taboos and stigmas, this one will eventually disappear...

      Point well made, Pat (no pun intended).  I appreciate your encouragement.  While none of us like to think about our own mortality, this is one way where a donor - or at least their wishes - can actually live forever, metaphorically speaking anyway.
